The traveled and weathered Ty Herndonis back with some new music for his hardcore fans.
Herndon burst onto the scene some 15 years ago already when his first single shot straight to the top of the charts. He ran up hit after hit and accumulated enough to fill up a Greatest Hits album. Then things went sideways and backwards for a few years, but Ty turned things around some years back. He hasn’t reached the same heights yet that he once had, but he seems happy making music and performing for a hardcore group of fans.
Ty’s latest song is a touching and inspiration tune about coping with the downs in life while moving forward and working to overcome things. The video for Journey Oncame out and that’s where I first heard the song. Former NFL player Kevin Turner takes on the starring role in the video. Earlier in 2010 Turner was diagnosed with ALS and was only given a short time to live. He’s working now to raise awareness for the ailment and has even said his brain will be donated for research when he passes.
The opening monolingual of the video is touching. Turner touches on his current outlook on life. It would seemingly crush most people bringing about anger, disappointment, and frustration that something like this could happen. Turner takes on the message in the song that we must journey on no matter what our own circumstances are in life. There is always time to change things and do good in the world.
Ty’s vocals on this song are remarkable as usual. It’s hard to believe his career didn’t reach bigger heights. His voice is amazing and so unique. There is real passion and authenticity behind Ty’s vocals on this song and it fits his own story well too.
If Ty keeps making great music like this I have no doubt he’ll be back at the top of the country world. This is amazing music with the power to connect with millions of people everywhere.
The end of the video is sad. Kevin is there with his family. He has young kids and it’s difficult to think they’ll be without him.
He’s making the most of life though and it makes me want to do the same.
