Anytime Joe Nichols releases a new single I pay attention. He’s one of the guys sticking with traditional country music these days. He has the vocals for traditional country. He’s added a little modern sound with the production the last few years, but that’s been just fine. He gets played on radio and his songs are usually hits.
The last one, Freaks Like Me, was a great song, but struggled on the charts. Maybe the word freak didn’t sit well with people, but he’s back now with another song that sounds like a hit.
Undone – Joe Nichols
This is obviously a love song. It’s a little different from a few of the recent ones that Joe has had success with. This one is pretty stripped down in terms of tempo. It’s not super slow, but a little more on the slow dance side of things. It’s pretty hot and heavy with the lyrics about a couple getting really intimate with each other. They’re falling entirely into each other and really having a good night where it’s just the two of them alone in the world.
This one sounds perfect for today’s country radio. Joe has proven that people want the music he’s making. He’s had to shuffle around with record labels, but he’s on the team with Broken Bow right now and that label has been really doing well with radio the last few years.
I like this one. I would expect to hear it a bunch on radio this summer.
