We have a new artist on the country music scene. And he’s making his name known on his own.
We live in a really cool time. It is possible for an independent artist to make really big waves without major label help. Major labels can still help, but independent artists can get things rolling in many different ways.
That seems to be the case with newcomer, Kane Brown.
I know I’m way late to the party on this one. Kane is a rising star. Here is one of his new popular songs.
Used To Love You Sober – Kane Brown
The first thing that hits me with this song is the voice. I don’t think we’ve had a voice like this in country music for a really long time. Talk about deep mixed with some higher vocals. It’s pretty cool. It reminds me a bit of Trace Adkins and Daryle Singletary with a little Chris Young mixed in.
And you can really hear that twang. There are definitely some traditional country inspirations in this song and I like it.
The lyrics seem to be pretty sad. You have a guy that is dealing with a breakup. It sounds like the relationship went sour pretty quick, but perhaps after a slow burn of issues. The girl seemed ready to move on while the guy didn’t realize what he had until it was gone.
And now the guy has turned to alcohol as a way to replace the high he got with the girl. She was all he needed before and he could love her sober.
I think that’s what the song is about, but it seems a little purposely vague so if I’m missing something let me know.
And let me know what you think of the song and of Kane Brown.
