I heard this song on the radio the other day and it caught my attention. I hear a lot of new country songs every day and not all of them make me stop working and pay attention. But there were a lot of things to like about this one so I had to include it here on the blog.
Violet’s Song – JD & The Straight Shot
I have to say that I’m not entirely sure what the song is about. I think it’s a song about life and the struggles you are handed throughout a life. And the way you deal with those struggles kind of defines the person you are remembered as. And it’s how you remember yourself. If you’re able to stand up to those challenges you can feel pretty good about what you’ve accomplished.
What really captured my attention about the song was the feel and the sound. It reminds me of an old school country song that you might have heard even way back in the ’40s or ’50s. This one would play well on a jukebox in a lonely country bar somewhere off a dirt road.
You just get that feeling that you’re sent back in time with this one and I guess that makes sense because it seems to be a song about that type of struggle in life.
Either way, I like it. It’s different than what you get on country radio today and we need that.
What do you think?
