Now here is an interesting song. I’m pretty surprised this was released as a single. The song is slow and melodic. It almost puts you to sleep. Guy Clark makes an appearance on this old school track. Check it out.
To Live Is To Fly – Wade Bowen
As I said, I can’t believe this was released as a single. You’ll never hear songs like this on country radio. The time for these songs has apparently passed, but Wade Bowen and his team didn’t really seem to care about the rules. They feel they have a great song and great songs always win. I’m pulling for it because there is nothing like this song out there right now and it’s good.
From what I can tell this song is about giving advice when your time is coming to an end. It’s an interesting song. It seems like the suggestion is to do what you want to do in live because you never know when your time ends and you there really is no excuse to not do what you love.
I like that.
It would be easy to see this as a sad song. The tone is certainly like that, but you’ll hear those high notes and feel a little upbeat. I think the track is upbeat in the story it tells.
Wade Bowen is certainly living his dream. He’s been out there working on the music for years and finally has some breakthrough success. I’d imagine that even if he never has a top ten hit he’ll still be playing music. He’s doing what he wants to in life. He’s flying and he’s living.
I think that’s what I’m going to do.
What about you?
