It’s often said that some of the best songs tell a story. The best storytellers seem to be able to tell a story that can connect with a lot of people even when the story seems to be very unique to a single person or situation.
We have a very unique story in this song from Dirk Powell. The full story behind the song and the artist are available on a new article shared on CMT Edge, which you know is one of my favorite blogs on the Internet.
Give the song a listen. Then I’ll share my thoughts.
Walk Through Clay – Dirk Powell
Listen: Walk Through Clay
There is an interesting blend of heavy-sounding electric instruments along with the bluegrass or Americana instruments. It’s pretty cool and makes for a song that sounds both modern and classic in terms of bluegrass and where music is today.
The sound and the type of song kind of remind me of Gordon Lightfoot. You have real stories here in the song and the music has a very unique and very folk-like sound.
There is a lot going on in this song. Even as things go along you hear almost something that sounds Celtic. It’s the blending of a lot of different genres that all come together to make a very good song.
It’s catchy. It tells a story and it’s something I think quite a few people would like.
