Here is another new band for us here at CML. I haven’t heard of Sweet Home Symphony before, but after listening to this new song a couple times I have to say that I really like what they’re doing.
I think it’s cool that we have a few groups in country music that are mixed gender. Lady Antebellum wasn’t the first, but they seem to be one of the big ones in the last decade, along with Little Big Town, that kind of brought that style into the mainstream.
Will that happen for this new band…I don’t know, but they have a good new single.
Wastin’ Time – Sweet Home Symphony
So the hook and the story here seems to be that it’s two young people kind of on the cusp of doing some big things. It sounds like they’re dealing with whether they should take a jump with their lives. They’re wondering if they should jump into a relationship. They’re wondering if they should take some chances with their jobs and really with everything that they’re doing.
I think it’s meant to be a positive song. It sounds like the woman is kind of getting frustrated with what the guy has been doing. It sounds like he’s the one that’s been dragging his feet a little bit and the girl is ready to get things moving along. There is no good reason that they should be wasting time any longer.
Can you relate? It happens in relationships all the time.
And what do you think of this new song and group? I like what they’re doing.
