The girls really are taking back control of country music. There are women on the radio charts right now and it seems that the buzz is building for women in the quality of their music and the popularity of their music.
Here is another new artist. It’s my first introduction to her music and I really like it. This song has a little Kelsea Ballerini in it and that’s been a good thing the last few years. Check this one out and see what you think.
Whatcha Wanna Do About It – Madeline Merlo
There also seems to be a youth movement in country, which is really exciting. Country has had a tendency to get a little old in the past, which is totally fine. I like that country can appeal to generations of music fans, but sometimes it’s good to focus on the new generations and I think that Madeline is helping to do that with this song.
It’s about young love and a couple that is kind of feeling the early signs that something might be pretty special. They’re feeling it. They’re not sure about it. They’re not sure if the other is feeling the same thing. They have to take that jump.
That’s something that just about everyone can relate to at some point in life. Whenever you’re falling in love you’re right on the edge and you have to take that risk.
Plus this song has a cool melody. It fits perfectly with the lyrics and the story and it’s catchy. It sounds like a hit to me. Will it make it on mainstream radio?
