This song reminds me of some of the songs that Lee Ann Womack has put out over her career. And that’s a compliment for Sasha McVeigh because I think Lee Ann is one of the greatest country singers ever. And I know that Alan Jackson was a big support when Lee Ann first came out in country.
I have a little hunch that Alan would be a fan of Sasha’s. She has a traditional country sound and it comes through on this one.
When I’m Over You – Sasha McVeigh
There’s always room in country music for a song about the struggles that come with trying to breakup with someone. We all go through relationships in our lives and the reality is that they can’t all end well. Even if they do end well there are feelings that make you feel sad and that take awhile to get over.
This song is about someone that seems to be kind of stuck in the middle of not being totally over someone. It’s probably about a relationship, but it could be about a different kind of loss. It’s kind of left up to the listener as far as that goes.
To me, this one is classic country. There are some modern elements in there. Sasha’s voice has some traditional sounds, but it also has a smokiness that is kind of cool.
I caught this one on Wild Country on Spotify. They always find some good songs to put on there. I don’t know if it will hit the mainstream, but you never know.
