Mark Chesnutt is still one of the best.

Mark Chesnutt is one of my all time favorite artists.

He’s from the old school back in the early ’90s. He was a traditional country artist back then and rode the wave of the new traditional sound with guys like Alan Jackson, Clint Black and Lorrie Morgan.

I had the chance to see Mark about seven years ago or so and he as still great. And he’s still out there releasing music. He’s out on his own now and just released a new single. It probably won’t get much radio play, but check it out if you like traditional country music.

When The Lights Go Out – Mark Chesnutt

Mark explains that he’s always had a tough time telling his wife how he feels. That’s not an uncommon thing for us guys. We just struggle sometimes to say what’s on our mind. We’re not good at it.

Well Mark was looking for new songs and he ended up co-writing this one with a few songwriters in Nashville.

The emotion in the song comes from how Mark comes back off the road after a show and after the lights go out.

Things get shut down and he goes home to the love of his life.

I think that’s a pretty cool sentiment. Great country music from one of the best country artists of all time.

What do you think?
