Southern Rock continues to push its way into country music in 2014.

One of the feelings right now in country music is that Souther Rock may be making a comeback.

Southern Rock was one of the big music genres back in the ’70s. It’s been around ever since, but right now it feels like it could be making a comeback in the country genre where multiple bands are putting out new music and getting noticed.

Here is a new single from the band Whiskey Myers.

Listen: Whiskey Myers – Where The Sun Don’t Shine

Southern Rock has usually been about the way of life in the South or really about rural American. Life can be hard out there where nobody seems to care about you. But folks that live in the small towns all across the country know how to fend for themselves. They like being left alone and they’ll find their own damn way to survive.

That’s the sentiment in this song and I think it’s going to strike a chord with people.

Whiskey Myers has released two albums so far and this song is one of the new singles that will be off their upcoming third album release. There is a growing anticipating for this record. You can hear the sound of Southern Rock influence in their music, but these guys are very much their own band.

I think they could be part of a movement that sees this kind of music become popular again in country in 2014.

What do you think?
