These are two things I like. Although whiskey hasn’t been more of a love/hate relationship over the years. And Keith Whitley has been a favorite for many artists. He’s a throwback artist and country in a traditional sense, which makes it even cooler that he’s still having an influence.
Here is the new hit song from down in Texas from Josh Ward.
Whiskey & Whitley – Josh Ward
This is a breakup song. The guy is in a place where he’s lost the one he loves. It’s going to take whiskey and Keith Whitley songs to get through this time.
I like the line about how those people he’s talking to are giving him advice and he appreciates their effort, but he really doesn’t want to hear it…at all. He needs to take some time and be alone with his thoughts.
That’s really what it comes down to in difficult situations: time. That’s really what people need to go through. Yes, it can be nice to have people around you, but those situations can still make it difficult. Maybe if someone just comes and sits and hangs out with you in silence it would help. But talking about it over and over and hearing solutions from everybody is not going to fix things or make it better emotionally.
Really great song from Josh Ward. You just don’t get songs like this anymore in country music.
That is unless you go to Texas.
I love this one.
