Sony Music Nashville has been making a push the last couple years to break new artists into the country world. It’s not easy to break new artists. It’s risky and can be costly, but when it works out just about everybody wins including the artist, the fans and obviously the label.
Seth Ennis is a new artist and it looks like Sony is working to break him into the country world with this new song. The more I listen to it the more I like it.
Woke Up In Nashville – Seth Ennis
This is an interesting song. It seems to be very personal and those kinds of songs are difficult in the country world. They can seem to personal to the artists or the writer and it can be a struggle for listeners to make a connection with their own life.
But I think this one works. The song’s basic story is that someone left a person they love behind to follow their dreams. In this case it was about going to Nashville to chase the country music dreams.
But I think that others could probably relate to this one. Many people have to leave someone for something that they think they need to do. Maybe it’s a job. Maybe it’s a different city or something like that.
Sometimes it works out and other times it doesn’t and you’re left thinking that you made a big mistake and you’re not sure if you can go back to the way things were.
Really good song. I’ll be curious to see how it does.
