Alan Jackson had a new album out earlier this year. It’s really good. The songs are just what you would expect from Alan at least in style. There are a few new sounds on the record, but what you’re going to get are songs about life, love, family and everything people go through with some really great hooks and melodies.
Back in the ’90s this one probably would have been a hit, but radio doesn’t seem to like Alan these days, but you can get your fill here on CML.
You Can Always Come Home – Alan Jackson
I think Alan gave an interview recently about this song where he said it was something his parents told him when he went off to try to make a go in Nashville. He knew it was something he had to do. His parents might have thought it was a crazy idea, but they told him to go and try and if it didn’t work out he could always come home and build the traditional life.
Now Alan is saying it to his daughters. It sounds like they’re getting older and going out on their own. Alan seems to ben encouraging them to go off and do what they want to do and he’ll be there to support them the entire way.
But he wants to make sure that they know that they can always come home. He’s going to keep the light on for them and always welcome them back no matter what.
It doesn’t get any better from one of country’s best.
