A lot of great artists made appearances on the CMA Awards a couple weeks ago. It was really a great opening to the show and some of those artists can still really sing and perform!
One of the artists that appeared and made me smile was Clint Black. I don’t remember when Clint first came out because I was just about four or five years old in 1989, but I do remember always liking Clint’s music throughout the ’90s.
Clint had a great run with RCA. Then he went out on his own. He continues to tour, but his new music doesn’t get as much attention as it used to.
And that’s too bad because Clint released a great new album last year. We looked at the first song from that album back then and it’s time to look back at another good one.
You Still Get To Me – Clint Black
Clint was always one of the best songwriters in country music. He said that he’s had interest from major labels in recent years, but they always tried to push other songs on him. He made it clear that it’s just his thing to write his own music.
And who could blame him? He’s one of the most successful songwriters (and artists) in country music history.
This song shows why he’s one of the best. It’s a love song and he performs it with his wife. I think it captures exactly what it means to still be in love after a number of years.
My brother just got married a month or so ago. They did the dance where married couples dance until the last couple is the one that’s been married the longest. This song could be one that’s played during those dances.
Great stuff from a country legend.
