I never know what to expect when I hear a new song from a new artist. We live in a really cool time in history. It’s easier than ever to record and release music. But perhaps it’s harder than ever to break into the mainstream. I don’t know if that’s true, but the competition definitely seems to be fierce.
Roger Jackson is a new artist to me. But he has a really good sound that seems like it would fit perfectly on country radio today. And I like it. Check out his new single.
Young In A Bar – Roger Jackson
I know that comparing new artists with other artists is a good way kind of get a feel for the new artist. If I had to put a finger on Roger Jackson and compare his sound to others I would say it’s a little Cole Swindell with a little Luke Bryan with a little Joe Nichols.
This song has that feeling of a modern day romance. The production reminds me of something that those artists would record and have a really big hit with. I see no reason why Roger can’t have a big hit with this one. It’s about young love and that’s always a popular theme with music.
Every generation has ways that they meet and spend time with the opposite sex. In this case the modern generation often spends time in bars listening to music, shooting the bull and getting to know each other.
Mix that all up with a slick, cool beat and you have a good song. I have to say, though, that the intro reminds me of the Top Gun Theme intro, but I like that movie so it’s a good thing.
