Steve Earle just keeps on keeping on with his career. He’s been putting out albums regularly since the ’80s and he’s still putting out his own brand of country music. His latest album just had a strong debut once again on the country charts. His fans are still loving the music he’s putting out and I’m sure he’s still gaining a few new fans. Here is a recent performance of a new song on Letterman.
You’re The Best Love That I Ever Had – Steve Earle
Steve Earle definitely goes about life the way he sees fit. I haven’t followed his career too closely, but I know some of his classic songs. I think my favorite is Hardcore Troubadour. There has always been that theme of rock and roll or country music with an edge.
This song is a little different, though. It seems to be about a relationship this guy is having. The woman is the best love that he’s ever had and in many ways he’s all over her and loves everything about her, but it seems to be a bit of a double edge sword. The woman can break his heart and that’s one of the things with love. You have to commit to get the good, but that opens you up for possible heart break.
It’s good to hear from Steve Earle. He still knows how to write a catchy country song in a way that nobody else really can.
