It’s been a huge year for the Zac Brown Band.
The guys had two number one singles and their album was huge all year. They also played some of the biggest shows throughout 2011. Now it looks like the guys are moving on to a new album in 2012, but there was one song not covered much from the last set, I Play The Road.
I Play The Road – Zac Brown Band
It’s been an incredible run so far for the guys in the Zac Brown Band. They’ve had nearly all their singles reach the top spot (Whatever It Is reached #2) and their last two albums were some of the biggest and most unique in country music history.
Now the guys are looking for a new album in 2012 and I’m sure the next single will be from that record. There was a song from You Get What You Give, though, that was probably worthy of a single and that’s I Play The Road. The song was used in promos for Nascar throughout the last couple years so people are probably familiar.
The track was also played by the guys in concert. I saw them earlier this year and it was one of the highlights of the nearly three hour show. These guys are straight up live performers. They have the best melodies in country right now and even though I Play The Road is a song about the band and their life it still relates well with fans. The guys make you feel like you’re right there on the busses with them traveling everywhere.
Music can really relate to anyone out in the country audience. As long as a song has a great melody it has a chance to be a hit.
ZBB could surprise me and release a fifth single from their last album. They did release five from their previous set and maybe even I Play The Road will make the list, but I have a feeling we’re looking at new music in 2012.
I didn’t want anyone to forget about I Play The Road. I think it’s a great song and one that probably deserved a shake at radio. It’s just one of those cases where there are too many good songs on one album for them all to become singles.
Look for some great stuff from the Zac Brown Band in 2012.
