Now that the 2011 ACM Awards are complete let’s recap the night including the winners and performances. I thought the night was good as always. Anytime country stars get together for a night of country music it’s a good night.
As always there were a few small surprises to keep things interesting.
ACM Awards 2011 Winners
Be sure to check out my thoughts surrounding my ACM Awards 2011 Predictions…
Entertainer of the Year
Winner: Taylor Swift
My Pick: Taylor Swift
It’s hard not to like Taylor. She’s great.
Top Male Vocalist
Winner: Brad Paisley
My Pick: Blake Shelton
Definitely not an upset to see Brad Paisley win this award. He’s a huge star and could have won this award for the last ten years straight. I love his music and always look forward to his new music.
Top Female Vocalist
Winner: Miranda Lambert
My Pick: Miranda Lambert
Superstar.
Top Vocal Duo
Winner: Sugarland
My Pick: Sugarland
It’s kind of fitting they won the award right after Ronnie Dunn sang his first solo hit.
Top Vocal Group
Winner: Lady Antebellum
My Pick: Lady Antebellum
It’s their year.
Album of the Year
Winner: Need You Now by Lady Antebellum
My Pick: Need You Now by Lady Antebellum
A huge win for Lady A. These guys are superstars and the wins just keep coming. Who’s ready for their third album?
Single Record of the Year
Winner: The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert
My Pick: The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert
Much deserved for Miranda and the track. This was a huge hit for Miranda in a year where she took her career to yet another level. She’s going to go down as a legend.
Song of the Year
Winner: The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert
My Pick: A Little More Country Than That by Easton Corbin
My upset prediction didn’t come true. I was pulling for Easton to break out and I still think he will. There is no arguing Miranda had a huge song. A well deserved award win.
ACM Awards 2011 Performances
It was pretty cool to see Alabama back up on stage together. It’s just not country music without a little Alabama. The new Brad Paisley track is already a smash hit. He just keeps ’em coming.
The opening act with Blake and Reba was so-so, but that’s usually how it goes with the hosts. They did a good job.
People love Toby Keith. He always does a great job. Enjoyable to listen to live.
Carrie and Steven nailed Walked This Way. The crowd was loving the second part of their performance. Isn’t Steven like 60? That guy can still put on a show. And Carrie of course kicked ass with her inner rock star.
Cool song by host Blake Shelton.
Love Dirt Road Anthem.
Great to have Sara Evans back in the spotlight. Man can that woman sing a country song. Brilliant.
