Every once in a while you hear a song that kind of stops you dead in your tracks. It happens for different reasons. It could be that the song really touches home on a personal subject. It could be that the melody is so catchy that you just have to start dancing and singing along.
Or it could be that the lyrics are so clever and clear that it just makes complete sense to you. That’s how I felt when I first heard this on Sirius the other day.
Ain’t Always Thirsty – Ray Scott
This kind of song reminds us that real country music still exists. This might be the most country song I’ve heard in a really long time and for that reason I have to say I don’t think it will be a radio hit.
But I would love to be surprised on that front.
The song is from Ray Scott. He’s been around for quite a few years. I don’t think he’s ever had a really big hit, but maybe this one has an outside chance of making it there. I guess you never know.
The song is about a guy that’s really struggling with life. He’s not with the person he loves and he’s been making mistakes and the hook is that he’s not always doing what should be done when he’s doing certain things…if that makes sense.
The main line is that he isn’t always thirsty when he drinks.
That is a country music lyric if I’ve ever heard one and I can bet many of us have felt that away about drinking or whatever we’re doing in life. We don’t always do them for the real reasons.
Great song here that I’m sure hits home for a lot of country fans.
What do you think?
