The new song is one of my favorite Waylon songs Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the tribute album if the songs are as good as this.
The guys in Alabama have seemingly stayed busy even though they haven’t toured together as a band in a few years and haven’t recorded albums of any sort. I believe Teddy has been busy producing and staying active in recording for other artists while Randy Owen has dabbled in some solo projects.
It’s great to hear them back together for this tribute.
Waylon was one of the greats in country music. He had his start famously as a player in Buddy Holly’s band. He struggled through music on his own for a few years in rock and country before finding true fame during the outlaw movement in the ’70s, which he helped pioneer. He racked up solo hits and duet hits with buddy Willie Nelson and wife Jessi Coulter.
Waylon sold millions of albums and toured the world. He is looked up to by today’s fans and country artists and the result is now another upcoming tribute to his legacy.
This is one album I’m really looking forward to in 2011. Some people don’t like tribute albums. I always have liked them for the new versions of the songs plus it reminds me to pull out the original albums and have a listen again.
What do you think about the upcoming release?
