We’re going to try something a little different here for a few weeks. Normally on Thursday we look at throwback songs. They’re usually big hits from the past and it’s pretty cool to remember them, but one thing I always have wanted to do is look at album cuts that maybe should have been hits.
Country artists put so much effort into their albums yet many people only hear the big hits. We miss out on a lot of great songs that are just album cuts. So here is a song you won’t want to overlook.
Portland, Maine – Tim McGraw
This is a little different since it’s from Tim’s most recent album. It could still become a single and I hope it does, but I don’t know if it will. Tim has already had three singles from his most recent album and there are some other great songs on that record.
This song is really cool. The sound is so different from anything else on radio. And that’s one of the great things about Tim McGraw. He has said that he always looks for a new sound first and then looks at the lyrics. It makes him different from other artists and he’s not always out there following trends.
The song is pretty sad. It’s about a couple that’s breaking up instead of trying to make it work with a long-term relationship. It’s got this sad feeling, but you know there are plenty of people out there feeling this way. Really cool song and I hope you like it. It’s one you don’t want to miss because it’s not a single.
