Alison Krauss is amazing.
She really is. She could sing the dictionary and it would be beautiful. There is something about her soft yet powerful vocals that grabs your attention and pulls you in. When I listen to her I find myself captured in every image being expressed in the lyrics of her songs.
Alison Krauss Earth Month Performance
Alison recently gave an intimate performance of songs from her latest album Paper Airplane in the Walmart studios. The performance was done to help raise awareness for Earth Month – surely a worthy cause.
My favorite song in the set is Miles To Go. I love the topic of the song. It seems to be about a woman that can’t settle down in a relationship. Things get boring and she gets sick of them. She’s an angel and she feels the pull of the many more miles and miles to go in her life.
With Alison and backing Union Station it’s always about the beautiful music, though. This track is a bit of an uptempo for the group. I love the way they showcase their instrumentation in each song. This one is no different. I love when Alison gets to picking at the fiddle instead. It’s a cool little break from the beautiful strokes of normal play.

This kind of music gets you in the right frame of mind for a few things. I put it on when I’m writing. I find it puts me in a good frame of mine. Even in the sad songs I get a sense of calm and that seems to settle my thoughts as I write.
