Ashton Shepherd has a new single at radio.

The last single from Ashton – [easyazon-link asin=”B0059VII5O”]Look It Up[/easyazon-link] – became her highest reaching song to date by hitting #19 on the charts. That’s not too bad for a pure country traditionalist. Since the single’s release Ashton’s has scene her album debut strong and now the second single from the album is climbing the charts.

I’ve said it many times, but this is the kind of country I live for. It reminds me of running around barefoot as a kid in the yard. It reminds me of getting muddy in the fall playing football with the guys in the neighborhood. It reminds me of each hunting season when I have the chance to get out in the woods and chase deer.

Country is something a little different to us all, but what brings it all together is the love of the small town life. For some of us we need that connection with family and friends you just can’t seem to get in the busy life of the city. Things are slower in the country. Being away from the speed of life gives you a chance to reflect on the important things in life and enjoy everything you have.

Ashton continues surprising me with how talented she is. Some have said she’s trying to be too country. This girl is just being who she is. She’s from the rural route in Alabama. She’s a mom. She’s a wife. She’s a friend. That’s what she is and that’s what she sings about. I think it’s great and more people are starting to realize it as well.

Ashton Shepherd is one of my favorite artists today. I’m hoping [easyazon-link asin=”B0059VIG2E”]Where Country Grows[/easyazon-link] reaches the top ten. It would be amazing to really see people take to Ashton and her music and have her become a huge star.
