Kasey Tyndall

Traditional country is back.

Love this one.

Who says there isn’t any traditional country music in the country world anymore?

There have actually been a handful of breakout songs the last year that have been stone cold country. There’s a little bit of a revival out there for traditional. Maybe not completely like in the late 1980s, but I think we’ll see a handful of songs in the top 40 for awhile that are traditional.

This song is from Kasey Tyndall. She’s an independent artist, but she’s finding some success with this one.

Bar That’s Open – Kasey Tyndall

When I first heard this one it made me smile. Not only are the lyrics straight out of a classic country song they’re extremely clever. Maybe it’s just me being an old country music fan, but when I hear that line it makes me smile.

And Kasey has the traditional country chops to match the attitude in the song. We have a narrator looking at the scene in a bar. She knows that people are there for heart break. They’re there to get over something that’s going on in life. They’re looking for a community that will help them get through these difficult times. And they will get over it…just not right now.

I love that this song is getting some attention right now. It’s cool to me that an independent artist like Kasey can get the music out to the fans and let them decide. And the fans are deciding that they like this one.

I’m really curious to see what you think of this one.
