I haven’t written in a while and I truly missed being able to share my feelings about old country and new country with you.
I had a death in the family and we all know when that happens the roads sort of get sticky and rough, but it’s our perseverance and strength as individuals that push us through! I’m so grateful to be back and able to share my opinions and thoughts about the country music we all love. As I was scrolling through new releases I saw the usual Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, and hold on Big and Rich?
I was always a fan of Big and Rich, they had a flair about them that wasn’t easy to duplicate. John Rich and Big Kenny, normally rowdy save a horse, ride a cowboy type of tempo switched it up to a softer yet almost tender tempo. I listened to the song and was amazed that the lyrics and melody were from Big and Rich. I couldn’t be more ecstatic that they took a chance and released a different side to their music! According to online resources they are supposed to be releasing their album “Gravity” later this year from their own record label. How can we forget their song ‘ Lost in this Moment’ from 2007?
That was a stellar song and topped charts for weeks, so when the guys released ‘ Look At You’ it’s clear they were attempting to hit charts again. The meaning behind the song strikes a chord. Big Kenny said that when he first heard the lyrics he struck him as you’re looking at the person you love, but that person doesn’t love you anymore. The duo couldn’t be more than happy to release a new country album that has a fresh, new, and contemporary feel.
The album had a summer release date which leaves us all yearning to hear the new music soon!
