The much anticipated first single from the next Blake Shelton is out. The country superstar has been extremely busy the last year. He’s on a hit TV show and he’s been attending and hosting various award shows all while taping his first Christmas special and releasing his first Christmas album.
That’s busy.
It’s a New Year now and Blake isn’t slowing down. He’s back in the studio preparing fresh music and the first release is a modern country love song.
Sure Be Cool If You Did – Blake Shelton
Sometimes it’s hard to figure out my own tastes in music. Mostly I like the country sound of the late ’80s and early to mid ’90s, but I also love the modern sounds of country from the ’00s. I’m talking about Rascal Flatts and Phil Vassar. I had both of the debut albums from those two acts – two of the albums that ushered in a new sound in modern country music. It was pop sounding and it continued into today.
Blake has had a classic country voice for much of his career and he still does, but it’s also obvious he can make a great pop record. The evidence is in a few of his singles over the years and he goes back there with this track.
From what I can tell the song is about a couple that’s falling in love. The guy in the song is falling. We’re not sure if the girl is, but I think that’s the point of the song. The guy is putting himself out there and hoping with everything he has that the girl will just give him a chance.
What do you think.
Is she going to give him a chance?
