Keith Urban

This one is unique and it’s really cool.

Keith Urban has never been afraid of trying new things. I heard this one on The Highway on SiriusXM yesterday and I thought they said it was his next single. I haven’t been able to verify that, though. But we’re going to look at it anyway and if he releases another new single then we’ll have even more Keith Urban on CML. That’s never a bad thing.

This one is kind of different from what we have going on in country right now. It’s kind of traditional with a little bit of blues mixed in.

Blue Ain’t Your Color – Keith Urban

Some songwriters or their publisher sent this one to Keith and he said in a recent interview that the title is the first thing that stood out to him. So that goes to show that sometimes having a cool title on a song can get it recorded by big time artists. But obviously it’s not easy to come up with cool titles.

Anyway, Keith said he also loved the way the song sounded. And he’s right. The song is about a guy that is looking at this girl in a bar. She doesn’t look happy and he’s thinking that she deserves better. She’s feeling the blues and the narrator is thinking that the color doesn’t fit her well. She should be smiling and having a good time with someone that cares about her.

The song has a great lounge and blues sound. There isn’t a ton of production going on and it fits this song really well. The more I listen the more I love it.

What do you think of this one?

Chart Estimate: #3

CML Points: 91/100

It is so refreshing to hear a country song with a cuddle up and slow dance vibe. I have nothing against the up beat songs but exactly that. Kieth has’nt forgotten the romance side of country music.
