It’s not the bottle you’re thinking…
Sunny Sweeney has a new single out.
It really hits home.
The title will kind of throw you off. You might think it’s about drinking. That’s what I was thinking.
But then things go into a very difficult area of life for many people. An area that really isn’t discussed very much. It’s just kind of a dark corner of the world for many people.
Those that struggle to have kids.
Bottle By My Bed – Sunny Sweeney
Sunny is one of my favorite country artists. One of the main reasons is that she has a traditional style and sound. Her voice is unique. It’s fresh, but sounds like it could be coming out a jukebox back in the ’70s.
The song is about Sunny’s very personal struggles with infertility. Her lyrics in this song are are really good. The one about calling her husband “baby” and how that one word can really bring about all kinds of emotions.
The sight of an empty room in a house. The room where you had planned to a baby to be. But there it sits. Empty. While you wait. Wondering if there is something wrong with you.
There have been a few artists in country music recently that have discussed issues with fertility. It’s a difficult subject. It’s not really discussed. It’s difficult because people don’t really know what to say. There’s a lot of hurt and sadness.
But the more folks like Sunny talk about it the more it can help others to realize they’re not alone.
I’m probably bias in my grading of this song, but I think it’s good on multiple levels.
