Really cool new song.
Maggie Rose has one of my favorite voices in all of country music. She’s been putting out music for quite a while now. We have some songs on CML from when she was Margaret Durante.
There is just something about her voice that makes me think traditional country. But she definitely has some modern edge to her and she’s released another song that stands out to me and I think it’s really good.
Broken – Maggie Rose
This one actually popped up on Wild Country on Spotify. I think I was behind the game in finding this one until I heard it there. It’s pretty cool that Maggie was included on that list. It’s kind of a place where you’ll hear some hits from the radio, but also some cool songs that are on the edge of country.
I’m not sure about the story behind this song or who Maggie is singing for as far as a label. Maybe it’s been released independently. Whatever the case is I hope it gets picked up.
The song seems to be about a breakup. It sounds like this woman is finally free from a relationship and it feels good. She’s kind of reflecting on how it’s okay that it’s ended. It’s for the better. And even though the relationship is over or broken it’s not all bad.
But it doesn’t even have to be about a breakup. It could be just a vague lyric about coming to the realization that we’re all a little broken.
It’s true that we all come from something broken. That’s just the way life is. We experience some things that others have experienced and we go through our own things. It’s easy sometimes to see ourselves as broken, but we’re all in that same boat.
Great song. I like it a lot.
