Brooks & Dunn End Their Career Together

Brooks & DunnThe song that started it all for Brooks & Dunn added a little extra meaning for the guys as they head their separate ways.

Brand New Manwas the debut single release for Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn in 1991. Things really changed in country music when Brooks & Dunn came to prominence.

Kix and Ronnie brought an attitude and a rocking sound to country. Their kind of music along with a few others really changed the direction of things in the ’90s. As a result the ’90s has become recognized as a high point in country music history.

Now the duo is calling it quits as a duo. After 20 years together the band has reached the end of their Last Rodeo tour. It marks the end of one of the most successful careers in country music. Not many artists get to decide how stages of their career end. Often careers end as fanfare fades and an artist isn’t able to maintain the momentum. It’s tough to sustain a career in something like the music industry. Tastes change, fans change, and demand for certain melodies and stories change relatively quickly in music.

Brooks & Dunn were able to recognize that their time together needed to end. The two have things they want to do on their own. Ronnie is already busy in the studio working on his solo debut. Kix says he’ll always continue to be involved in music. He currently hosts a country countdown radio show each week. As songwriters the two will likely continue to feel the need to get their feelings out on record from time to time.

Kix and Ronnie performed their last show together recently in Nashville. The guys closed down the show with the single that got it all started. Brand New Mannow takes on new meaning for the duo. The song had meant a beginning to something great for the guys as a duo. Now the song takes on the meaning of a brand new start for each of the men.

It’s great to see the guys end their time together on good terms. Hopefully they continue to be friends as partners in music because their talent and magic brings smiles and enjoyment to so many.

I have a feeling it won’t be the last time we hear from Kix and Ronnie both as individuals and as a duo.
