Zac Brown BandIn 2008, the first official single from the Zac Brown Band Chicken Fried shot straight up the country charts and finished at the #1 position. Since then the band has followed up with three more successful singles. Whatever It Is reached #2 on the charts. Toes went to #1 and included a video appearance by ZBB fan Kid Rock. For those that don’t know, Kid Rock is a big fan of Zac Brown Band. The guys’ fourth single Highway 20 Ride went to #1. The song was a powerful tale of divorce and how kids get wrapped up in it. The song reminded me of I Don’t Call Him Daddy by Doug Supernaw.

Now, the guys of the Zac Brown Band are using their fifth single to finish off their double platinum album The Foundation. The song is about to crack the top 20 on the charts. Can the song make it all the way to #1 like 3 of their previous 4 singles have? It seems like it might be in the cards for ZBB. Free is a song with simple lyrics. The melody is catchy and many fans are already singing along to the track in their cars. If the song can make it to #1 the guys will join a very select few artists that have 4 #1 hits off the same record. Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks and recently Rodney Atkins have accomplished this feat.

The guys are also putting the finishing touches on their next record. Guitarist-Keyboardist Coy Bowles says the album is nearly finished. “It’s 85% complete.” The guys have to be feeling the pressure. After such a successful major label debut their is always pressure to repeat the success. The guys in ZBB are talented enough though to set aside any thoughts of a sophomore slump.

It’s seemed like forever since the guys came out with Chicken Fried. Fans are ready for new Zac Brown Band music.

For those that can’t wait there is a little reprieve. The guys released a live collection recently: Pass The Jar. The set includes a great duet with Kid Rock. The guys cover the Marshall Tucker Band classic Can’t You See. It’s great.
