This sounds like it belongs on country radio right now.

Love & Theft have had an interesting career so far. They broke out way back in 2009 as a trio. Then they turned into a duo and things seemed up in the air, but they came back really strong with a hit single and were back on top. Now that I think about their name it kind of makes more sense as a duo…

Since then, though, they’ve left their label. I think it was about not getting enough support since they were on a label with other big artists.

Then they released a really good record on their own. The singles didn’t hit it big, but the songs were really good and now they’re signed with Curb and have a new single ready for the charts.

Curb Records has an interesting public image. On one side is the fact that they’ve had some big time artists including current artists. On the other hand is their image as screwing with their artists including Tim McGraw and LeAnn Rimes.

So who knows is this one will work out. Let’s check out the song and see how it sounds.

Candyland – Love & Theft

These guys definitely have a unique sound. You can hear that right away in the first verse and the song builds from there. There are hooks throughout the song and by the chorus you’re definitely rocking to the groove and singing along.

It’s a pretty straightforward love song. The guy is falling head over heels for the girl. It sounds like something that belongs on the top of today’s country music chart.

It’s an interesting lyric, though. Sweetness and candy. I get it, but it’ll be interesting to see how fans react.

What do you think?

Chart Estimate: #10

CML Points: 85/100
