Blown Away by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood continues her streak of huge hits. She’s coming off a number one single and has the title track ready for the next single. I think this one will be right up there again as a top track. Check out Blown Away.

Blown Away – Carrie Underwood

I’m not going out on a limb here saying that Blown Away will reach the number one spot on the charts. Nearly all of Carrie’s singles have gone on to become top hits on the country charts. She’s been one fo the most successful country artists ever and she has the sales and the recognition to prove it.

What impresses me most with Carrie is her ability to write and record songs that sound different yet familiar. She didn’t write this one although by listening to the lyrics you would think she had a hand in the song. But Carrie still puts all of herself in this track. There is always a reason to name the entire album after a song and I think they chose this one because the song is so powerful both in music and lyric.

From what I can tell we have a daughter living with a father that is a drunk and abusive. It seems like the mom in the story is already passed away and in the ground. There’s a storm coming on strong. The girl hides in the cellar, but prays the storm blows away the house and her drunken father who’s passed out on the couch. She wants all the abuse to stop and the pain to just get tore apart and washed away. She wants a new life.

That’s not your happy go lucky type of song right here. This is something much more serious and powerful. I give Carrie big time credit for taking on this song and singing about a topic like this. She’s finding ways to make great music while addressing topics that can make people uncomfortable. It’s a wonderful song and I would imagine it will help those out there that suffer with various aspects of life.

Carrie is great and Blown Away is a powerful song.
