It has a weird opening sound, but by the time the chorus kicks in you know this track is a hit.
The song is Let You Go and it’s by this huge band from down in Texas, the Casey Donahew Band. I was just introduced to these guys last week and I feel like I’m an idiot. They have hundreds of thousands of fans (175,000+ on Facebook) and I’d never heard of them. Well, it turns out their big time and I think Let You Go needs to be a single.
Let You Go – Casey Donahew Band
How great is this song?
I can’t help sing along with every lyric. Once the first chorus hits this song takes off to another level. It’s incredibly catchy. The lyrics are about a guy that screwed up with a girl. He’s the one that broke it off and told her to leave. Now he has regrets and he wants her back. Guys makes mistakes, sometimes a lot of mistakes, and it takes us a little while to realize. I think we can all relate a little to the lyrics in Let You Go.
The Casey Donahew Band doesn’t need me to make suggestions, but this track reminds me a little bit of Carry On that Pat Green released probably ten years ago already. That song became one of the first to break Pat into the mainstream. He was huge in Texas at the time, but was struggling to break into the mainstream. That track got him on CMT and just outside the top 40 on country radio. That song got him in the door and then he blew things open with more great singles.
I think Casey Donahew and his band could do well with releasing this song. People love catchy. This song has that rocking edge that’s popular on radio right now and I think people would really respond to hearing this on their car stereo. And a video on CMT would be awesome too.
Like I said, though, these guys don’t need my advice. They have a huge following and they’re doing just fine.
Double-Wide Dream is one of the best albums I’ve listened to in quite a while. Let You Go captured my attention as the first song and the rest of the album didn’t disappoint. I’m sure the guys have big plans for 2012. They’ll be out on tour supporting the album and things look like they could be improving for the band as they look to break out to the mainstream.
With songs like Let You Go, I’m sure the Casey Donahew Band will only continue to grow their fanbase and probably find some fans everywhere around the country. It just takes a little time and some sharing. That’s how I found out about them.
So if you’re a fan of Let You Go share your thoughts and be sure to share the song with your friends. Let them discover the Casey Donahew Band just like I was able to last week.
