If you like traditional country music then the best album to come out in the last year has been The Way I’m Livin’ by Lee Ann Womack. I’ve listened through this album multiple times.
The album is a reflection of life. It’s a little bit of a tear in your beer type of album, but that’s what helped to make country the voice of the regular person in America.
Here is the third and latest single from that album.
Chances Are – Lee Ann Womack
Talk about a sad country song. We don’t get too many of these anymore and it’s really a shame. Sad country songs are some of the most popular posts her on CML.
With Facebook these days it’s easy to think that every person’s life is amazing and full of happiness. It’s great to celebrate happy things, but we know that isn’t the case all the time.
That’s what I feel when I listen to this song. We have a woman that’s sitting in a bar. She’s going through the pages of her life thinking about how she’s been making the wrong choices. Some of it was luck, but she’s taking the blame for much of it.
But there is hope in the song…at least a little bit. The woman sees a guy in the bar and she’s hoping that she has a chance. She knows that it might not work out, but you never know. She’s going to give it a chance and keep trying.
Because that’s what life is about. It’s about not stopping. You keep going even if things keep going against you.
This is the best country song we’ve had on CML in a really long time. I love it.
I don’t think we’ll hear it on the radio, but I hope I’m proven wrong on that count.
CML Points: 94/100
