Chris Young Re-Releases Voices

Chris YoungChris Young is re-releasing the song Voices from his album The Man I Want To Be.

Since Chris Young first released Voices he’s had two number one hits. Now that Chris has some momentum in his career he’s going back to the well to put out a great song.

This move should give the song the proper recognition on radio. Voices is a great track about the people in our lives that influence us. As George Jones sang, life is about choices. We make choices every day in life, some good and some bad. Something that affects our decision making is the advice and words of experience our family and friends share with us. For example, you might come across a time when you want to purchase a new song or record. You remember your best that said the album was excellent and that they couldn’t stop listening to it in their car. As a result, you decide to purchase the record. Another example, you’re out on a date with a beautiful girl. You’re about to walk into the restaurant when the little voices of your Mom and Dad pop into your head “Always open doors for ladies.” It happens to us all every day.

I’m glad Chris’ song Voices is getting another chance. I hope the re-release becomes Chris’ 3rd straight #1 hit.

The situation reminds me of Randy Travis back in the mid-80s. Randy released On the Other Hand in 1985 and it only made it to #67. Then Travis released his first hit single 1982 and it went all the way to the top ten. Travis’ then re-released On the Other Hand and it became his first #1 hit.

Chris Young is also releasing new music along with the single Voices. The Voices EP will feature 3 new cover songs from Chris Young. Chris is releasing the Voices EP exclusively on iTunes. About the 3-song set he says:

“There’s a song on my current album called ‘Voices’ – it’s my next single – and we decided to name this EP Voices, too, and one of the reasons we did that is because these are really the voices that inspired me, musically. If you go through a list of some of my favorite artists, these guys are at the top. I love these songs and the men who originally sang them. These are all songs I might play in my live set at one of my shows on any given night, and this project allows me to share with fans some of the musical voices that helped make me the man I am today.”

I love Chris’ taste in music. Chris’ version of the Keith Whitley classic I’m Over You is outstanding. I’m still trying to figure out the version I like most.

I loved Voices when it was first released and I’m excited that it’s getting another shot at the country charts.
