This one is a great debut.
Patrick Thomas is new to us at CML.
It looks like he’s a singer and songwriter in Nashville. He has a new EP that was just released. It looks like he’s going the independent route for now.
But that’s kind of the way things are going with new artists right now. They work their way into the songwriting community. They learn the craft. They build a reputation. Then they prove that they can build a fanbase on their own. And if things go well they get backing from a major label.
Will that happen for Patrick? Let’s listen to this first single and see what we think.
Closure – Patrick Thomas
This is a good song. It definitely seems like a sad one. We have a guy that’s really struggling to get over a relationship. He’s going through what he think he needs to do to get closure with this relationship. But it’s been a real struggle for him.
A big part of him doesn’t want to close things off. For many, we need the door really slammed in our face to finally feel that closure that it’s never going to happen. But it’s obviously difficult when you’ve invested so much into the relationship.
Unrequited love. So many songs are about that. One person with incredible feelings for another and the other person just doesn’t fee the same way.
I’ll be curious to see what kind of reception Patrick gets with this one. I think it’ll be good.
What do you think?
