CMA Award Nominations Announced

September 7, 2010 by Dayne Shuda 1 Comment

Miranda LambertThe 44th annual CMA Award nominees were recently announced. Miranda Lambert came away with 9 nominations. Miranda became the female country artist with the most one-time nominations ever. Her 9 chances to win this year is a record for female artists and only one behind the all time record held by Alan Jackson in 2002.

The record is another milestone in Miranda’s monumental 2010. She’s currently heading out on her first headlining tour. She’s leading the way the first time and playing “at night” as she told a packed crowd earlier this summer in Eau Claire, WI. Add those accomplishments to the growing list for Miranda. She had her first number one hit earlier this year with The House That Built Me. She also got engaged to fellow country artist Blake Shelton. The two have been dating for a few years now and are country’s top duet and country royalty. What makes them so great is they have a great sense of humor in their own ways. Blake is in your face with his humor and isn’t afraid to get a little raunchy. Miranda has a more dry wit as evidence by her latest single Only Prettier.

Along with Miranda on the tour is singer Eric Church. Surprisingly Eric was snubbed on the award show. Eric joins the seemingly annual snub list that is frequented by arguably the most successful artist each year – Toby Keith. Darius Rucker and Tim McGraw are also missing from the list of nominees. There are always some questionable artists that miss, but Darius had a pretty good 2010.

Many great artists did receive nominations for their collection of great songs, albums, and performances.

A tip of the hat to Billboard for their coverage on the awards…

As the day approaches I’ll put together a list of the artists I feel should win the various awards as well as picking those I think will win each award. My early gut reaction is that it’s time for Blake Shelton to start getting his due. He’s been chalking up hits for nearly ten years now. He’s sold millions of records and had over a handful of number one hits. It’s time for Blake to take the next step into superstardom and get out on a headlining tour of his own. Winning something like Male Vocalist of the Year could be the big step that propels him to the next level.

wow I so so don’t agree with you, how in God’s name you can call Miranda and Blake country’s couple if beyond me, heck Blake is the most foul mouthed jerk ever, have a listen to a few of his tweets, he is rude and crude and I wish he’d leave country music. Miranda is ok, I liked her song The House that Built Me, but no way is she better than any of the other females nominated especially Carrie. I am hoping to see Brad take male vocalist again as he deserves it, also his concerts have been huge he deserves to win the EOTY award also in my opo. But really country’s couple, please……..theres only ever going to be one and its “Tim McGraw & Faith Hilll” and it always will be. If you put them in the same room Blake would be so foul mouthed the liklihood is Tim would wind up taking Faith and it would be a see ya later deal.
Oh and as for duo, I hope it goes to the best Brooks & Dunn. Last but not least if RF don’t take group I hope that Zac Brown does, they have come a long way and are amazing. We all know Brad’s video for Water is the sure winner. Also for song its gotta go to Lady A for Need You Now, that song is amazing. I am so shocked though by their utter ignorance in their once again omitting the best of the best, Tim and Toby, I saw both and their show’s were amazing, nobody out there can touch them when it comes to entertaining, its a joke to give Miranda 9 nods, heck what are they or who are they so close with, hmm one has to wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
