CMA Award Predictions

Jason Aldean

Will Jason take home the night’s biggest award?

The CMA Awards are tonight.

Will you be watching?

I’ll have the awards on. It’s always fun to see the new singles that are performed for the first time on the show.

Two years ago Jason Aldean surprised the fans with a performance with Kelly Clarkson. My hunch is that Jason will perform the next single from Night Train on the award show.

I’m really hoping that performance is of 1994 with special guest Joe Diffie. Man, that would be awesome. That is the best song on the record and would generate huge buzz.

But we’ll have to wait until tonight to see what goes on.

Until then here are my predictions.

Entertainer of the Year

Nominees: Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift

Will Win: Jason Aldean

Should Win: Jason Aldean

It’s Jason’s time to take home the biggest prize in all of country music. He’s currently the biggest star in the genre outside of Taylor Swift.

Male Vocalist of the Year

Nominees: Jason Alean, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban

Will Win: Jason Aldean

Should Win: Jason Aldean

This one is always difficult to pick. First, the CMA does tend to throw a wild card in there once in a while. Second, all of these artist are huge and had huge years. I could see it going to any of them, but I’ll stick with Jason.

Female Vocalist of the Year

Nominees: Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood

Will Win: Miranda Lambert

Should Win: Taylor Swift

The CMA loves Miranda Lambert, but Taylor is the biggest star in all of music right now. She needs to win something.

Vocal Group of the Year

Nominees: Eli Young Band, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, The Band Perry, Zac Brown Band

Will Win: Little Big Town

Should Win: Zac Brown Band

Talk about a hard one to pick. Man, these aren’t easy. I’ll go with LBT.

Vocal Duo of the Year

Nominees: Big & Rich, Love & Theft, Sugarland, The Civil Wars, Thompson Square

Will Win: Thompson Square

Should Win: Thompson Square

This one has a little less talent, but Thompson Square had a great year with a little push from Love & Theft.

New Artist of the Year

Nominees: Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes, Love & Theft, Thompson Square

Will Win: Hunter Hayes

Should Win: Brantley Gilbert

This one is tough. These are some deserving nominees, but I think the CMAs will go with Hunter Hayes.

Album of the Year

Nominees: Chief – Eric Church, Four The Record – Miranda Lambert, Home – Dierks Bentley, Own The Night – Lady Antebellum, Tailgates & Tanlines – Luke Bryan

Will Win: Four The Record – Miranda Lambert

Should Win: Four The Record – Miranda Lambert

All these are great records. I’m not sure if the CMA is ready to give Eric his due on this one and all Miranda does is win Album of the Year.

Single of the Year

Nominees: Dirt Road Anthem – Jason Aldean, God Gave Me You – Blake Shelton, Home – Dierks Bentley, Pontoon – Little Big Town, Springsteen – Eric Church

Will Win: Pontoon – Little Big Town

Should Win: Dirt Road Anthem – Jason Aldean

It’s another tough choice. The CMAs kind of surprise with this one every year and I think it’s going to be Pontoon.

Song of the Year

Nominees: Even If It Breaks Your Heart – Eli Young Band, God Gave Me You – Blake Shelton, Home – Dierks Bentley, Over You – Miranda Lambert, Springsteen – Eric Church

Will Win: Over You – Miranda Lambert

Should Win: Springsteen – Eric Church

I don’t think the CMA can pass up the chance to get Miranda and Blake up on the stage at the same time for a heartfelt moment. Eric deserves it though.

Music Video of the Year

Nominees: Come Over – Kenny Chesney, Over You – Miranda Lambert, Pontoon – Little Big Town, Red Solo Cup – Toby Keith, Springsteen – Eric Church

Will Win: Springsteen –  Eric Church

Should Win: Toby Keith

Toby is the man and I love that he’s giving the CMAs the finger. He’s won only a single CMA. Are you kidding me? Complete joke.

I was way off. Miranda and Blake stole the show. Chief is a great album too 🙂

I can’t belive that Kip Moore wasn’t even an option for breakthrough artist of the year, or Thomas Rhett.
