It’s exciting for me to highlight new country artists.
One such artist is new on the country scene. Cole Taylor is a young guy from Georgia. He has a country sound that’s undeniable. His music is uptempo and from the sounds of it he’s ready for the big time in country music.
I had a chance to ask Cole some questions about his path to where he is today in his career as well as some insight into what makes his music unique. Cole seems like a cool guy. He also seems hungry and anxious to bring his kind of country music to the fans.
New Country Artist Cole Taylor
Cole’s first song is already out on YouTube and is getting some attention from country fans. The track, That Makes My Neck Red, is a really great debut song. It’s got a great melody that gets you singing along. The redneck thing is still alive and well. Really the song is about the small town life Cole seems to appreciate. I can certainly respect that. I’m from a small town and enjoy doing a little work out on the farms and having fun with friends on the weekends. It’s a great life.
Georgia Born and Raised
The pedigree of Georgia is substantial in country music. Alan Jackson is one of the well known artists to come from the state. Today, artists like Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan proudly carry the Georgia flag. Even new artists like Colt Ford, Brantley Gilbert and Thomas Rhett come from Georgia. It’s like there is a movement going on down there and it even includes songwriters like Rhett Akins and his team of Peach Pickers.
Cole Taylor is from Georgia as well. He was born and raised there loves everything going on with the state and country music.
“Georgia has got it going on. From live shows to writing, it’s got to be something in the water. Every time that I turn on the radio it seems like it’s something to do with Georgia,” says Cole.
Pretty soon Cole will be turning on the radio stations all over the USA and his songs will be playing. I think his current stuff is pretty good and I’m sure it will only get better and he continues to drive toward his career of country stardom.
There is more to Cole than country music, though. He shared a little bit about his life and how he was led to this point in his career.
“First and most important I am a Christian and would have nothing if it weren’t for the help I’m getting from God. I grew up in a small one redlight town, the kind that all the songs are about these days.
“My brother actually sang in a southern rock band for a while and I just always thought that it was so cool how I could hear songs played live and then I discovered karaoke and had a ball with it. I sang at all the small town festivals and churches that would let me.
“So i guess you could say that’s what really got me started and into music.”
It’s pretty cool to see a kid find his passion like that. It’s what we’re all looking for whether it’s music or something else. Find that passion and being able to pursue it is what the American Dream really is about. Cole seems to be finding his success in life and it’s exciting to see him do well.
As a hunter myself, it’s cool to hear that Cole is a hunter. He enjoys hitting the woods and the field to pursue whatever is in season. I think it’s a pretty country thing to enjoy hunting and fishing. The outdoors offer so much inspiration. It’s cool to see the traditions of hunting carry on with a new generation.
A Little Rock in the Country
As Cole mentioned, he’s got a little rock in his country. His older brother played in a Southern Rock band. There is a lot of rock in country these days and it’s pretty cool. I think it adds a new element to the genre that really turns up the volume and gets things moving.
But deep down the roots are in country. You can’t hide the fact that some of the greats in country’s history have influenced new artists like Cole.
“I would describe my music as fun, meaningful, and energetic,” explains Cole.
“My music is classic country. My music tells a story, paints a picture, and at the same time gives the people that three minutes to get away into a song and away from reality. I always love listening to songs that put me in that place and I want people to have that same feeling when they hear my songs.
If I had to describe my music in a few words it would be Georgia Country. Just like Texas has their style I think Georgia is building a reputation for country music as well.”
Things are getting exciting for Cole, too. He’s already playing some big shows and it sounds like the summer is busy. The schedule is filling up and it’s an exciting time for a new artist to be hitting the scene.
“I have played with or shared the stage with over 30 national acts including Randy Travis, Montgomery Gentry, Rhett Akins, Jake Owen, Joe Nichols, Sammy Kershaw, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Rodney Atkins, Josh Gracin, Colt Ford, Corey Smith, and more.
“I have released two albums by myself and co-wrote every song on them. I have written over 100 songs over the past 3 years. I am currently landing some larger gigs in larger markets and venues.
“Music is my passion and I love what I do and I’m so thankful that God has put me in a place where I can do this for a living.”
Good stuff from a rising country star. It’s awesome to see that Cole writes all his own stuff. That’s a good sign for a new artist that’s just on the edge of breaking out. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of this Dawg fan in the future.
Future Music and Plans

Cole Taylor
Cole is excited about the upcoming year. He’s planning on playing a show during an Atlanta Braves game later this summer. That’s got to be a huge deal for a kid from Georgia. The Braves are a pretty big deal and anytime you can get in front of that many fans it’s great for the career.
“I am getting lots of doors opened and just kinda going with flow until I graduate college in the Spring of 2013,” says Cole.
It’s pretty cool that Cole is still focusing on college. I remember how busy college life was. Now throw in a budding career in country music and those demands and I can’t really imagine how busy life is right now for Cole.
Things are getting exciting for Cole. With a new song out getting to fans and Cole taking his live show out on the road it seems like this future country star is really ready for his career to start.
