A little country from Finland.
Here is something that’s pretty cool.
It’s easy to think of country music as being something only found in the US. And that’s true, but only to a point. It’s really always had an element of a global following.
And today it’s really cool because there are no location barriers to listening to music. People all over the world can make and listen to country music.
Larry Peninsula is an example. He’s a country music artist from Finland. And he’s really good. He’s making country that is a throwback to the traditional.
Country Music Only – Larry Peninsula
Listening to this rollicking song takes me back to those old TNN days. I could imagine hearing this song on one of those opry-type shows. The artists would get up there and pick and sing for hours. One sound would bleed into the next and they crowd would be entertained for hours.
There’s a lot of country in this song. Also a little bluegrass and maybe even a little bit of Texas country in there as well. You can tell that Larry loves his country and it comes through in his voice and his style.
And obviously the song itself is about a situation where Larry found himself having to play requests from the crowd. But someone slipped in that wasn’t really on the up and up with what he plays. They asked for something else and Larry had to remind them that him and his band only play country music.
This is a great uptempo tune. I really like it.
