Blake Shelton

You might have missed this one from Blake Shelton a few years ago.

It’s Wednesday and that means we’re looking at an album cut that didn’t quite make it to the radio.

One of the biggest artists today is Blake Shelton. He’s been on an incredible run with number one hits and looking back on his recent records there are actually more songs that could have contributed to that run. I think this is one of them.

Country On The Radio – Blake Shelton

I love the groove of this song. It’s not a ballad and it’s not an uptempo rocker. It’s kind of a laid back song that you play when you’re just chilling and maybe grilling with your family and friends.

And that’s really what this song is about. It’s about those good lives we all live when we live in the country. Life moves a little slower and that’s a good thing. You’re not in a rush and you have time to fall in love and appreciate the people and all the other good in the world.

I also like the little tip of the hat to Conway Twitty in the chorus with the blue jean baby lyric. That’s a nice little touch, but this song is pretty strong on it’s own.

Side note: I wonder if Conway would have been big on Twitter…

Anyway, there isn’t always room for all the good songs on every record to be released as singles. I think it was Keith Urban who said he thought…wait…it was Tim McGraw. He said he’s always joked about putting out a full album of the best album cuts that he’s had. That would be pretty cool.

CML Points: 90/100
