A catchy one right here.
Another brand new act for us at CML. The Simpson Brothers Band. It looks like the obvious is that these are two brothers looking to break into the country mainstream. And they may have a sound that fits.
It’s such a cool time in country music. Independent artists can get so much exposure before they sign with a major label. Obviously it’s not that easy, but it’s possible.
You used to hear about up and coming artists selling CDs from the back of their cars after shows and stuff and that was one way for major labels to take notice. I think there’s a story about Kenny Chesney doing that and then signing with BNA.
Anyway, now it’s about getting streams on YouTube and Spotify. Maybe the Simpson Brothers Band will do that.
Check out their latest single.
Country Radio – Simpson Brothers Band
This is a catchy song. That’s the first thing that stands out to me. That’s usually the first thing you’ll notice about songs. They bring you in with the hooks and the melodies. Then you kind of digest the lyrics. A lot of songs have great hooks and so so lyrics. But others have both.
I’m not sure on this one yet. I think it’s good. The lyrics seem to be about comparing life to country radio. And that’s definitely a pretty apt comparison. In a lot of ways.
I’ll have to listen a few more times to really dig into the lyrics. But for now I’m enjoying this one for the catchiness.
