Dierks Bentley

Here is an album cut from Riser.

This is a song I had to write about here on the blog after my wife mentioned it. She’s been getting into country more. She listens to Spotify all the time and that’s where she discovers a lot of the country songs she likes.

It’s fairly unusual for her to mention a song to me, but she asked the other week if I had heard Damn These Dreams by Dierks Bentley. I had not and that made me think it was an album cut and it is. The song is from Dierks’s latest record.

Here it is.

Damn These Dreams – Dierks Bentley

It’s a little different sound from Dierks. Although he’s mixed it up over the years he’s become pretty well known for his uptempo fun songs, but he’s as diverse of an artist as anyone out there.

This one is pretty stripped down and that makes it pretty cool. These songs can sometime on rare occasion get on the radio and become big hits, but not very often. It’s usually the slick, well-produced songs that make the big splash.

But this one has real feeling and emotion behind it. You can tell it’s very personal to Dierks. The lyrics are about his life and you know that it’s about a struggle he has with his dreams and his family.

I think we all deal with those things in life. We only have so much time and energy and that makes for some difficult decisions. We have to decide what is most important and make time for it and be content with missing out on some things in life.

Great song from Dierks and I’m glad my wife mentioned it to me.

CML Points: 92/100
