Darius Rucker too I Got Nothin’ into the top 20 on the charts last fall. Since then there have been no new singles on the charts. It was the third single from Darius’ second country record. I’m sure we’ll be getting a new single later this year and probably one from a new album.

Until then I thought we should still enjoy some Darius Rucker music. Here is a great song that probably fits with what Darius has been up to…

In A Big Way – Darius Rucker

The most important thing Darius brought with him from his days as the lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish was a sense of melody. In A Big Way has a great catchy chorus just as all of Darius’ songs do. I’m playing this one over and over listening to the smooth sound and the fun lyrics.

In A Big Way is about the whirlwind life Darius has been living at various times in his life. His former band was the classic example of a ten year overnight success. They were basically a garage and club band for years until their major debut release became one of the best selling records of all time. They piled up hits and hit the road. For a good five years they were one of the biggest draws in the business.

About four years ago Darius shot to the top of the music world again. This time he was on his own and taking over the country world. He racked up a handful of huge hits and life probably got busy once again.

Now it’s been only a few months, but that can be a long time in country music. Darius seems to be taking In A Big Way to heart. I’m sure he enjoyed some time off with family and friends. It’s important to catch you breath once in a while. You can’t work all the time and I’m sure Darius will be back with some great music after his time off.

Until that times comes we’ll have to put Darius’ first two country records on repeat and play them over and over. With songs like In A Big Way to listen to there is reason to smile and be happy.
