Mark it down as the day Darius Rucker‘s new album hits stores…
No longer only known as the lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish
“I don’t think it’s [new album] going to be light-years different,” Rucker said. “I don’t think we set out to reinvent the wheel or do a new sound. I think this record is more of an expansion of the last record than anything else. It’s like picking up where the last record left off.”
The new album is set for release on Tuesday October 12th. Darius has named the album Charleston, SC 1966. The title is reference to Darius’ birthplace and birthday.
Fans have already been loving the first single from the album: Darius Rucker – Come Back Song. The new tune has been climbing the charts for a couple weeks now and fans can’t get enough. The single picks up right where Darius’ last singles did and that’s a good formula to follow.
Darius Rucker overcame all odds to reach his current status as a country superstar. With so much seemingly standing in the way of a successful country music career, Darius broke down all the glass barriers and is now living the the dream. And with the drive to write 77 songs for the new album (12 will appear on the album) there is no doubt he has much more in store for country fans.
And to pass the time between now and Oct. 12th, fans can find Darius on another new album from professional golfer John Daly. Darius Rucker added his vocals to the title track from Daly’s new album I Only Know One Way
Come Back Song is already in the top 20 on the country charts and it seems like it will be Darius’ fourth #1 single by the time Charleston, SC 1966 hits the shelves later this year just in time for holiday shopping. Fans should expect to see another single just hitting radio when the album is released.
And based on recent history, the next single from Darius Rucker will likely be a smash hit as well…
