For most of 2011 David Nail has been climbing the charts with [easyazon-link asin=”B004L9WQLW”]Let It Rain[/easyazon-link].
Since then fans have been anxious to see 1) how high the single will go and 2) when David’s new album will be released. So far Let It Rain has been slowly making its way to the top 30 and is on the way to the top 20 in the next couple weeks.
David has also started previewing other new songs including this latest offering – Catch You While I Can…
Catch You While I Can – David Nail
The Story Behind the Song
Earlier this summer I had a chance to see David Nail live in concert for the first time. It was a great show. The show was one I was really looking forward to and David didn’t disappoint. It was hot out that day, but worth every second in the hot sun as David played his hits mixed with some really cool covers.
This new song is one I don’t remember hearing, but after playing it a few times it’s coming across as a really cool song. And really…that’s what David Nail is becoming as a country singer – a really cool guy with cool songs. It makes him unique in the crowd of talented artists. David’s niche is to record songs that sound really cool and laid back. It seems to fit his personality.
Catch You While I Can seems to be about a guy and a girl having a meeting while they’re out one night. David plays the guy in the song. He tells the girl to let down her halo for just one night. They seem to have a connection and David doesn’t want to let the night happen without really taking advantage of things.
The song could come across as sleazy unless it was done just right and in this case it was done just right. David comes off as a cool guy simply looking to spend some quality time with a girl. He’s not trying to be sneaky or deceptive at all. He’s just professing his true feelings and seeing where it gets him. He’s laying it all out on the line.
I think women can appreciate that quality in a guy.
You’ll have to add your own thoughts on the song’s meaning. Maybe you got something else from the lyrics. My interpretation can certainly be different.
David Nail’s Second Album
I’m not sure when the new album will see the light of day. I’m guessing it will be later this fall. [easyazon-link asin=”B004L9WQLW”]Let It Rain[/easyazon-link] is nearing the top twenty and I’d think the label execs would want that song to be peaking just as the album is being released. With Catch You While I Can possibly being the second single we can expect it to be released around the album release date, which is fairly common practice in the record business.
There have to be some high expectations for this second album for David. He’s been in Nashville for quite a few years now. In the last three years he’s had some big hits and is looking to keep his momentum going.
With songs like Catch You While I Can I think he’s found his niche in the genre as a smooth, cool guy and this song could be another top 20 hit for him if it catches on with fans.
Chart Estimate: #25
CML Points: 87/100
