What a horrible thing that happened in Vegas.
It’s not something you expect. To be enjoying a great country music show with other country music lovers.
Just terrible.
There have been all kinds of responses the last couple weeks. It’s difficult to know how to react. One of the great ways that country artists are reacting is by putting their thoughts into music.
That’s what Maren Morris did. And the wonderful thing about Maren is that her thoughtfulness comes through again and makes for a poignant song.
Sad in the present. Hopeful for the future.
Dear Hate – Maren Morris
I can’t even imagine trying to get emotions like this into a song. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for country artists or any touring artist. Having their world shaken like that. Having to go forward continuing to play shows.
Maren captured a great outlook on life in this song. It starts out addressing hate. Talking about how she understands how hate can infiltrate our lives.
But then it ends with Maren letting hate know that love will win out in the end. Then she addresses love with gratitude. And it reminds you of the amazing people that helped others during the tragedy. And how others have come together afterward to be there for one another.
People are wonderful all the time in life. In big ways and in little ways and they’re all special. Sometimes we just take a little more notice than other times.
Great job by Maren to capture a great outlook when the country world needed one. And how about Vince Gill adding his vocals on this one as well?
