Something from the edge of country for you.
A few years ago they started this new festival in the town where I live. I guess you could call it an alternative festival where they bring all kinds of different music together.
A little alternative rock. A little rap and hip hop. A little country. A little Americana. Just about everything.
I went that first year and one of the bands that had a good sound was The Lone Bellow. Since then I’ve kind of kept a little eye on them and it sounds like they have new music coming out.
Here is the first single.
Deeper In The Water – The Lone Bellow
This is one of those songs where it’s got me listening over and over trying to decipher the lyrics. They did a good job, I think, of keeping it vague enough where it could have many meanings. But it still seems pretty autobiographical.
I think it’s about someone that’s getting a little burned out on life. Chasing a dream. Working hard maybe to just keep things afloat.
That’s a feeling many of us feel from time to time. Just that feeling that you can never get ahead. It feels like you’re treading water at best and struggling to stay atop the water at worst.
So we have that theme and feeling going on and then you have the haunting music and harmonies going on that really bring the entire thing together.
It’s a little dark. A little haunting, but I like it. The more I listen to this one the more I like it.
I’m anxious for the entire album.
